I'M NOT SICK, BUT I'M NOT WELL

Street Fighter X Tekken
Street Fighter X Tekken is out this week for PS3 and 360. Sources from Kotaku and Capcom themselves have confirmed that there are 12 extra characters on the disc that will be unlockable later this year. They (Capcom) have decided that to unlock these characters will come as paid DLC. I call bullshit on this. If I have to pay $60-$70 for the game, why should I have to pay extra for this content which is finished? This DLC bullshit that Capcom is known for (they did it before with Street Fighter III: Third Strike on PSN and XBLA, and with Resident Evil 5 for PS3 and 360) is bad business. Now I want to play this game, SFxT, but I'm not putting up with Capcom's BS anymore. I've decided to purchase this game used, so none of my money sees Capcom. This isn't where it ends, from now on ALL GAMES from Capcom that I want I will buy used. I believe that everybody who has a beef with on-Disc DLC games should send a message to these greedy publishers by purchasing the game used. Sure, buying used games hurts publishers, but when publishers treat customers like idiots, then some sacrifice should be in place. Bankrupting Capcom would send a direct message to other publishers that as gamers, we will not tolerate this nickle & dimeing of DLC.
Remember back in the day when Street Fighter II Turbo (Hyper Fighting) came out on the Super NES? Included on the cartridge was a full featured version of Street Fighter II: Champion Edition as a bonus.
These days that'd be DLC, and knowing Capcom, it'd be on-disc DLC. Also what the eff is up with charging for new colors for costumes? Back on the SNES or Genesis it as easy as pushing a different button.
It's not just Capcom. There's also the case of Namco Bandai. Look at Soul Calibur IV and V. Pay downloads for different music options? Remember the game Soul Edge/Blade for the PlayStation? It had three different full soundtracks on the disc itself. Now Namco wants me to pony up for songs from Soul Blade to Soul Calibur III to play on Soul Calibur V. It's horse shit. I bought the collector's edition of Soul Calibur V and they want to charge me for extra music? Fuck that.
Last generation on the PS2, late in its life cycle, Capcom released Street Fighter Alpha Anthology, a collection of Street Fighter Alpha, Street Fighter Alpha 2, Street Fighter Alpha 2 Gold, Street Fighter Alpha 3, and Super Gem Fighter Mini Mix. In addition to those titles, the game also includes two unlockable hidden games; Street Fighter Alpha 3 Upper and Hyper Street Fighter Alpha, for no extra charge! Plus when this game came out it wasn't a full $60 release, I remember it being between $29.99 and $39.99 depending on where you shopped. I would hate to see how Capcom would butcher this game up now as a collection or as DLC.
